The III Town police arrested eight persons of a gang allegedly involved in various burglary cases here on Tuesday. Three two-wheelers, four mobiles and Rs 4,000 cash were recovered from their possession.

Karimnagar: The III Town police arrested eight persons of a gang allegedly involved in various burglary cases here on Tuesday. Three two-wheelers, four mobiles and Rs 4,000 cash were recovered from their possession.

According to Police Commissioner V B Kamalasan Reddy, the accused were identified as Miryalkar Sai (20), Kohed Venu (20), Guttam Sairam (19), Devakarthik (24), Gummadi Rajesh (24), Madirey Harish (20), Kurella Saichand alias Chandu (21) and Mamidi Bhuvaneshwar, all residents of Karimnagar.

This nine-member gang modus operandi was to loot the parked vehicles by breaking window glass and they also attack drivers and others if present in the vehicle. They used to wear face mask, said the Commissioner.

A special team was employed after receiving complaints from people about burglaries on the outskirts of Karimnagar.

Following a tip off about suspicious people moving near Housing Board Colony, III Town Circle Inspector Sadanandam along with others rushed to the place and took the nine members into custody.

Additional Commissioner of Police T Annapurna, ACP J Rama Rao, inspectors Hari Prasad, C H Sagar and Yellaiah Goud were present along with others.
