Manuguru: An art teacher with Anusakti Kendriya Vidyalaya has developed a faster bicycle fitting it with a clutch, called the Ostrich Clutch, to enable the rider travel at a speed of 45 kilometres per hour.

The designer of the bicycle Vijay Singh, a resident of Gautami Nagar Colony in Heavy Water Plant region in Aswapuram mandal, had spent around Rs 10,000 on equipment to convert an ordinary bicycle into the Ostrich Clutch fitted bicycle, which is environment-friendly.

According to Vijay Singh, the bicycle travels 1.3 times faster than an ordinary bicycle. He purchased an ordinary bicycle for Rs 5,000 and fitted with double chains, double wheels and named the arrangement as the Ostrich Clutch.

He said his invention would be beneficial to the poor, who doesn’t have thousands of rupees to purchase motorcycles.
