RTC-W region to launch five metro services

Warangal: The TSRTC Warangal region authorities are planning to expand the city services.Efforts on to launch five services connecting Huzurabad town in Karimnagar district with Kazipet in Warangal Urban district. Soon four new metro buses will be included to the fleet of city services, informed the RTC regional manager T Surya Kiran.
There are a total of 57 ordinary services and 15 metro services in operation in Warangal city. The metro buses allotted to Warangal region under central Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) scheme h have been launched in Sep 2016.In Warangal city, there are three main city service routes. Route number-1 connects Kazipet and Warangal via petrol pump, route-11 connects Kazipet and Warangal via KU campus and route-3 connects Kazipet and Enumamula market.
The RTC is currently operating 24 ordinary and eight metro services in route-1, 20 ordinary and four metro buses in route-11, 10 ordinary and two metro services in route-3. The authorities have planned to withdraw two metro services being run in route number-3 in view of decline in occupancy following the demonetisation move by the Centre. However there will be no change in ordinary services in the route.The sub-urban buses operated by the RTC are providing connectivity to 16 kilometres around the city.
RTC Warangal region yet to receive swiping machines Even as the state government is making efforts to promote cashless transactions in a big way, the RTC Warangal region is yet to receive swiping machines to go for cashless transactions. According to the regional manager Surya Kiran an order for about 18 machines has been placed with SBI and SBH.
‘We expected to receive a few machines in the first week of January but haven’t received any. There seems to be shortage for the machines and we are expecting that the swiping machines may be available by Sankranthi’ he added.No marriage special bus bookings
The demonetisation which caused a dent in the RTC income to the tune of about Rs 16 crores in the months of November and December 2016 has also affected its income generated from special bus bookings for marriages and other functions.
On an average the RTC receives 15 bookings in a month during marriage and festival season. But for the past two months no bookings took place even as rates for booking special buses are revised.
The rates are reduced to Rs 5200 from Rs 13800 for ordinary bus for four hours hire.The RTC has revised the rates drastically for the convenience of the public. One could hire an ordinary bus for a price ranging from Rs 3,500 to Rs 8,500 and the price for metro buses ranges from Rs 4,000 to Rs 9,000 depending on the distance and the hire time, Surya Kiran informed. ‘The pricing is very affordable and public should make use of the services,’ he added.
