Khammam: Lauding the efforts of officials of Bhakta Ramadasu project for completing it prescribe time, the Roads and Buildings Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao inspected the trial run of water here at Islavath Thanda of Thirumalayapalem mandal of Khammam on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, the R&B Minister said by the grace of Lord Sri Rama and Goddess Sita, the Project had been completed at a fast pace within the prescribed time.

The coordination of officials of various departments, under the supervision of the District Collector D S Lokesh Kumar, the project works were completed within the set deadline.

The Minister further added that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, by reviewing the project works regularly with officials, had given suggestions for them to complete the works in time.

“We initially prepared a design to combine the Sitarama project with SRSP DBM, but to do so it may take lot of time which in turn cause loss to many farmers.

To overcome that problem, we started Bhakta Ramadasu project with the permission of Chief Minister,” he explained.

“Along with the Krishna water, if Godavari water is also supplied for irrigation purpose and drinking needs, then the Palair constituency along with the entire Telangana State will turn into fertile with full of greenery,” he said.

At present the water would be supplied to 60,000 acres. Later the proposal would be prepared for supplying water to the other areas under ayacut, said the Minister.

He suggested the farmers not to break the canal for diverting the water to their fields, if identified stringent actions would be taken, warned the Minister.

Zilla Parishad Chairperson Gadepalli Kavitha, District Collector D S Lokesh Kumar, Joint Collector T Vinay Krishna Reddy, Superintending Engineer of Irrigation Department Sudhakar, SI Nageshwar Rao and DCCB Chairman Muvva Vijay Babu were present along with others.
