Jangaon: The National Girl Child Day celebrated on Tuesday is a red-letter day for the girl students of numerous government and private institutions in the district as it marked their potential of creating records.

As many as 13,683 girl students, under the age group of 13 to 18 years, have made their way into three books of records in one stroke by displaying their martial arts skills. They made into Guinness Book of Records, Indian Book of Records and High Range Book of World Records.

The event is organised by Jangaon district administration with District Collector A Devasena making special efforts to boost the self-confidence of the girls, besides creating the records.

Girls lining up for the demonstration at mini-stadium at Dharmakancha in Jangaon town presented a spectacular view to both the guests and audience gathered to witness the event.

Indian representative of Guinness Book of Records squadron leader Jayasimha, Indian Book of Records (IBR) adjudicator for the event GVNRSSS Vara Prasad and High Range Book of World Records (HRBR) CEO Suman Palle have acknowledged feat by the girls.

“The event is organised in an impressive manner. We recorded the feat and presented certificates to District Collector Devasena and director of Rudramadevi Self Defence Organisation N Lakshmi,” Vara Prasad told The Hans India on the sidelines of the event.

‘The demonstration of martial arts by the students is a new record. There is no such record created in the past. The demonstration has got eligibility to enter into Guinness Book of Records,’ said Jayasimha.

The participating students have demonstrated in synchronisation. The feat needed 30 minutes of display and they performed for 36 minutes. Soon we will send a certificate to the district administration, he added.

Suman Palle said ‘A demonstration of martial arts by above 10, 000 participants is record for us. The HRBR recognises the event as largest display demonstration of self-defence techniques’.

Hyderabad-based Rudramadevi Self-Defence Organisation director Lakshmi, a karate champion and a trainer V Ravi have coordinated the demonstration which began at 11.45 am and concluded at 12.21 pm.

“The mass demonstration named ‘Sanghatitha Sabala’ is taken up under Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS) with an objective to reinforce the feeling of strength and solidarity among girl students. It also aimed to create physical, mental and spiritual well being among the students,” Collector Devasena told The Hans India.

The students of government high schools, KGBVs, Model Schools, SC/ST/BC welfare residential institutions and government junior colleges, besides some private schools have been given intensive training in martial arts for the past one month.

Students from around 157 institutions have taken part in the feat. “I thank everyone who offered their services to make this event happen and create the records. It is a morale booster for all of us in Jangaon district” she noted.

In order to ensure continuation of martial arts training at schools, 500 anganwadi works and 200 physical education trainers have also been imparted training during the last months’ training regime, she added.

Deputy Chief Minister K Srihari, Minister A Chandulal, MP B Narasaiah Goud, MLCs B Venkateswarlu and P Ravinder, MLAs M Yadagiri Reddy and T Rajaiah, Municipal Chairperson Premalatha Reddy and Commissioner of Police G Sudheer Babu are among those witnessed the event.
