Luxettipet: Following the news item titled ‘Disabled siblings waiting care’ published in The Hans India on Tuesday, highlighting the plight of disabled siblings - Tirupati and Lasumavva of Velganur village, there has been a welcome response from Mancherial MLA Diwakar Rao and Dandepalli Tahsildar Syamala Devi.

While seeking details of the unfortunate disabled, Syamala Devi told THI on Tuesday that the issue has been taken to the notice of higher officials for shifting the siblings to an orphanage.

The villagers broke down when some officials, including Syamala Devi, turned up to see them two and noted that fellow residents had contributed recently to perform the last rites of Rajaiah, father of Tirupati and Lasumavva.

The officials, while taking the issue to the notice of the people’s representatives, thanked THI for its coverage of tragic living conditions of the family. The MLA telephoned this correspondent and assured to take care of the siblings in all respects.

Local leaders MPTC Shankarayya and Bandari Mallesh accompanied Devi during her visit to Velganur to see the plight of Tirupati and Lasumavva.
