Utnoor: The benefits of the schemes taken up by the local Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) office aimed at improving the financial status of the tribal community (adivasis) are not reaching them. As a result, the objective of the State government to improve their living conditions and provide avenues of employment are not being achieved.

Although the ITDA is preparing grandiose plans, the alleged negligent attitude of both the officials concerned and the bankers is becoming a curse for the girijans, leading to the non-implementation of the schemes.

The welfare schemes worth Rs.15.38 crore sanctioned during the years, 2015-16, are yet to reach the applicants, although the financial year is about to end, an investigation by The Hans India has revealed.

Of the target of reaching 1,310 beneficiaries, only 17 in the four districts have been extended loans. In the case of the balance of 1,293 only officials can indicate when the assistance will reach them.

Of the 762 selected online beneficiaries, no bank accounts have been opened in the case of 548. Their applications are still lying in banks for scrutiny.

The targets of the schemes aimed at improving the financial standing of the girijans, whose status is below the poverty line in Adilabad, Asifabad, Komrambheem, Mancherial and Nirmal have not been met. Moreover, they were also not implemented.

This has become clear from the resolutions adopted by the Ministers from the district and members of the ITDA governing body meeting held on April 7 last year in Utnoor stating that officials of banks are adopting extremely negligent attitude.

Even after the resolution, there was no change in their behaviour. Their attitude is the same with regard to the sanctioning of annual loans which still elude the girijans.

Of the Rs.15.38 crore allotted for 1,310 schemes, Adilabad (Rs.7.1 cr) accounts for 566 schemes, Komrambheem (Rs.3.93 cr) 386 schemes, Mancherial (Rs.2.93 cr) 190 schemes, Nirmal (Rs.2.06 cr) 168 schemes.

Although the financial year is about to end, the girijans are a confused lot as the benefits are yet to reach them.

Both the beneficiaries and the Girijan Sangham leaders are demanding that the officials concerned should at least now wake up to ensure that the sanctioned loans reach the targeted groups without the involvement of banks.
