Warangal: The district tourism department has planned to organise a three-day ‘National Film Festival’ in the city marking the 70th anniversary of Indian Independence.

The film festival will place at NIT Warangal auditorium and the entry is free to all. The auditorium can accommodate nearly 1,200 audience and is equipped with projector and other required facilities, informed the District Tourism Officer, M Shivaji.

The festival is tentatively scheduled to be held on February 17, 18 and 19 or February 24, 25 and 26 depending on the availability of the guests. A prominent cinema actor from Telugu film industry will be invited to inaugurate the festival.

It is planned to screen five to six films in day and patriotism will be theme of the films to be screened. The festival is being organised at the directions of the Central government to celebrate 70th anniversary of Indian Independence, Shivaji told The Hans India.

Referring to the proposed ‘Orugallu Kala Vaibhavam’ scheduled to be held on March 10, 11 and 12, he said arrangements are being made on a large scale. An organising committee with prominent persons in the district has been constituted to look after the arrangements.

Noted writer and vice-president of the committee Ampasayya Naveen informed that three seminars on Warangal culture, arts and history will be conducted.

It is planned to organise an art exhibition wherein the paintings of artists belonging to old Warangal district will be displayed at Hotel Haritha Kakatiya.

During the three-day celebrations, folk dance, dramas, a ‘Kavi Sammelanam’ and Mushaira will also be held at Public Gardens in Hanamkonda.

The committee office bearers Acharya Kovela Suprasanna Charya, Nagilla Rama Sastry, G Girija Manohar Babu, VR Vidyardhi, P Srinivas Rao and others are engaged in making the arrangements in coordination with the district administration, he added.
