Nizamabad: A large number of students belonging to the Akhila Bharatiya Vidyardhi Parishad (ABVP) staged a protest at the Dharna chowk in the town on Thursday.

They were protesting against the State government’s decision to fix 60 percent marks in the graduate and B.Ed degree examinations as minimum qualification to apply for the teachers’ posts in gurukul schools in the recent recruitment notification issued by the Telangana State Public Service Commission.

They also burnt the effigy of the government as a mark of protest. Speaking to the media, The ABVP members warned that they would intensify their agitation if the prescription of 60 per cent marks as minimum qualification was not withdrawn.

Leaders of SFI and AISF also said that lot of students from the Telangana State would suffer if the provision of 60 per cent minimum marks in graduation and B Ed for the teachers’ posts was not withdrawn. They expressed the hope that the State government withdraws its decision.
