Nirmal: The Ministry of Road Transport and National Highways have been very particular with regard to the construction of better roads for a safe, comfortable and swift journey. With the same objective, it was decided to construct the National Highway 222 for the convenience of those heading towards Nasik from Nirmal district.

The Nirmal-Nasik NH has been constantly in news for various reasons. Sometimes, it made news for the quick progress of work and sometimes for the installation of the new toll gate on the way.

Ever since the launching of road works, people were in a state of confusion to know whether it is road widening or laying a four-lane highway.

The road starting from Nirmal to Bhainsa (constructed) bears the bitter truth about the above mentioned lanes. Half way down the road is a well designed divider with margins painted for lane driving. But the road breaks on the way to keep people in a fix making them to shift their speed on the road.

Even the sign boards on this way are so few in number that we find no bus or truck bays on the road in the journey of 40 km of the constructed road.

Part of the road to Nanded is in such a deplorable condition that accidents occur quite frequently on this route as it is also the by-pass road heading towards Bhainsa town.

The officials of the Roads &Buildings Department cannot be blamed as they did the work with sincerity. However, what remains alarming to the people is whether the part of road which is left unrepaired for the past two years shall be taken up for repairs or not.

With regard to the toll gate, huge amounts of money have to be invested for constructing it. Although it has been almost one and a half years, the toll gate is yet to get started as the road widening was not done meeting the expectations of the proposed road map.

The Ministry of Road Transport and National Highways needs to focus on the poor condition of this road and ensure that an immediate step is taken to curb away all the setbacks in widening the road and facilitate people with better road to have a safe journey.
