Luxettipet: In response to a story published in The Hans India on February 10 on the administration’s failure to conduct health camps in hostels during the last one year since the launch of Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) in January 2016, a team of RBSK on Monday visited the local government junior college. It focused on the personal hygiene of the students.

RBSK Medical Officer Sharath Babu told THI that the students would do well in studies only when attention is paid to their personal hygiene.

The team members provided awareness to them on drinking water supply and consumption of food that helps to strengthen their mental faculties.

They impressed upon the students to change their water bottles once in three months or clean them with hot water in 10-15 days, so as to avoid getting afflicted with ailments.

Among those present were Doctors Sharath Babu, Sandhya Rani, Shabiha, pharmacist Manjula, ANMs Ravali and Naga Praveena.

The RBSK envisages visits by its medical teams to all schools and hostels, comprising one male and a female doctor, besides one pharmacist and ANM.

The teams are supposed to conduct medical camps for conducting tests to students and give suggestions/recommendations on their health status.

Such teams have failed to visit any educational institution or hostel during the last one year. This was highlighted in the news item.
