Hyderabad: Following the success in operating the 108 ambulance services in the entire State, the GVK group now proposes to introduce ‘mobile veterinary clinics’ in the state.

According to officials, tender process for these ambulances was completed recently. The company is going to sign an agreement for operating 100 vehicles at the constituency level with the government on March 9. The government has earmarked Rs 20 crores for purchase of vehicles.

Soon after the agreement, one vehicle would be operated on pilot basis. The pilot project would provide them with the exact requirements in terms of number of doctors and medicines required to run the service on full scale.

According to officials of Animal Husbandry department, the services will become fully operational from April or May. As per the agreement, each vehicle will have a doctor, animal attendant, a compounder, besides the driver, which costs around Rs 1.5 lakh per vehicle per month, which will be stationed at constituency level.

Even though vehicles will be registered with the government in terms of service, the entire mechanism of handling staff, man power supply and call centre will be run by GVK group.

However, there remains major difference between on how the 108 Ambulance services are being operated by GVK and newly planned mobile veterinary clinics. For 108, the paramedics travel with the vehicle but not the doctors. The paramedics ensure that the condition of the patient does not deteriorate. They ensure that critical care for half-an-hour or maximum of one hour is provided.

While on the other hand the mobile veterinary clinics reaches critical cases of animals under their reach within half an hour. The veterinary doctor in the vehicle will treat the animal, then and there. “The team in the vehicle will be ready with all their equipment to ensure that the animal is treated within the Golden hour,” added the official.
