Ichoda (Adilabad): The prestigious ‘Youth Parliament’ programme organised with the aim of monitoring the functioning of various departments and to create awareness about various issues became controversial when no official turned up to attend the programme except the Mandal Praja Development Officer Ramakanth.

The programme was organised by various villages youth associations under Nehru Youth Kendra and with the co ordination of Yuvadarshini.

Yuvadarshini co-ordinator Perumandla Swamy expressed his anguish over the officials’ ignorance. Organisers alleged that the officials feared that youth associations would question them on various issues, hence they stayed away.

While addressing, the MPDO Ramakanth lauded the youth who were active in social activities. Ramakanth said that there were 90 registered youth associations in the mandal, which is the district record. He asked the associations to conduct more programmes in the future. Local Sub-Inspector of Police Shankar Naik and various youth associations were present on the occasion.
