Bhadrachalam: The ornamental, highly-decorated and imposing structure of the Kalyana Mandapam, where the celestial wedding of Lord Srisitaramachandra Swamy is held every year on the occasion of Sri Rama Navami, has successfully completed more than 50 years of existence.

The Mandapam in the Mithila Stadium, which was inaugurated by Congress veteran Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy on April 6, 1964, stands as a testimony to the art skills of the sculptor Ganapathi of Tindivanam, Tamil Nadu.

The design, concept and episodes featuring Ramayana on various parts of the Mandapam showcase the skill, talent and mastery of design of sculptors. The then Endowments Minister Kalluri Chandramouli laid the foundation stone for the Kalyana Mandapam on May 30, 1960.

According to temple priest KE Stalasai, the Mandapam was built at a cost of Rs 4 lakh. The green stone brought from Tindivanam and black stone sourced from Tatakulagudem near Parnasala in Dummugudem mandal has been used for carving out the sculptures.
