Sultanabad: The ancient Sri Ramachandra Swamy temple located at Ramunipalle here has at least 600 years history. The temple once was atop a hill. The hill has a pit that had water throughout the year. According to the legend, a little girl used to pray Lord Rama in the temple.

After her marriage, she went away and there was no one to offer prayers to the Lord, as most of the people were afraid to climb the hill top. But it was said that the girl used to climb the hill daily undaunted by the problems.

Later, the Lord himself descended the hill. The locals strongly believe that the Lord showers his grace on their village and protects them during natural calamities. They also said that they never incurred crop loss while the surrounding villages got loss due to natural disasters.

Speaking to The Hans India, MPTC Mailaram Narayana said they named the village after Lord Rama, as they felt the presence of the Lord all over the village. He appealed to the people’s representatives, officials and the State government to develop the temple.
