Ice apples sold like hot cakes
Ice apples were sold in the temple town on Thursday like the proverbial hot cakes as people began relishing them to escape from the sweltering heat.
Bhadrachalam: Ice apples were sold in the temple town on Thursday like the proverbial hot cakes as people began relishing them to escape from the sweltering heat.
Ice apples are regarded as nature’s gift to humankind. Normally the palm trees are found in villages and forest areas. But, they entered the urban market to appease to the taste buds of the urbanites.
Not so easy to find in urban areas, some tribals are seen selling them near the bus station here. Soon, people flocked to the vendor selling the delicacies, which are found only during summer.
The vendor, Podium Ramudu, sold 12 ice apples for Rs 20. Soon there would be no ice apples left with people lapped them up. People said that the ice apples aid digestion and help reduce body temperature.
