The workers of Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) working in Manuguru open cast mines are facing several hardships due to lack of amenities. Earlier, there were couple of instances where workers lost their lives due to lack of protective gear. 

Kothagudem: The workers of Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) working in Manuguru open cast mines are facing several hardships due to lack of amenities. Earlier, there were couple of instances where workers lost their lives due to lack of protective gear.

Alleging that there is no coordination between words and deeds of the officials, they said the officials use coolers and air conditioners meant for them often leaving them to their fate.

Dumper operators and cable men had to work in hot sun, where the temperatures range from 45 to 50 degrees Centigrade, especially in the months of April, May and June. Most of them are often hospitalised for dehydration and vomiting.

The workers alleged that the officials were making them work without even providing basic amenities like fans, drinking water etc.

Expressing anguish over the attitudes of their officials, the workers appealed to the officials to come to their aid and make changes in the work timings apart from providing packets of ORS and butter milk.
