Manuguru and Bhadrachalam towns are also experiencing the severe heat wave conditions. According to official sources, the extreme heat conditions have claimed 15 lives in the district. Meanwhile, most of the residents of the coal belt area are prefer to stay indoors.

Such is the situation that, even in morning hours, the scorching heat and hot winds are preventing people from coming out.

The condition of the workers in open cast mining is even worse. While the officials declared rest time between 1 pm and 4 pm for the workers, water and buttermilk has been distributed to them to keep them hydrated.

Speaking to The Hans India, Dr P Rajasekhar, a pediatrician advised people to keep their children indoors and encourage them to play under shade. Oral suspensions to beat dehydration must be made available, he said.

Meanwhile, the sellers of air-coolers are making a killing. Going a step further, officials are taking measures to beat the heat by providing shelters at outdoors and they were even sprinkling water on roads to prevent the heat.
