Bike riding by minors, Parents to be held responsible

​Khammam: Warning strictly, Deputy Commissioner of Police S Sai Krishna pulled up the parents of minors for allowing their kids to ride the vehicles. He said parents would be held responsible for wrong deeds and mistakes of their minor children.

After receiving orders from Commissioner of Police Tafseer Iqbal, the traffic police officials stationed at different locations in Khammam seized 120 vehicles run by minors. Later, the police organised a counseling session for the minors and their parents at Traffic Counseling Centre in Prakashnagar in Khammam on Wednesday.

Addressing the crowd, the DCP appealed to the parents to take care of their children and not allow them to indulge in any activities that are against the law and rules. He also added that there is a possibility of children making bad friendships and getting into anti-social activities if their parents remain blind and negligent towards their kids behaviour.

“Many youngsters, especially minors, died in bike accidents pushing their parents into sorrow and injuring others. Parents must feel that it is their responsibility to not to allow them to ride vehicles at such a tender age,” he suggested.

Child Protection Officer Vishnu Vandana said if parents behave carelessly and encourage their minor children by giving vehicles for ride, they too would be punished under ‘Juvenile Justice Act-2015’.

Parents are responsible for all the illegal and anti-social activities their minor children are involved in and will face punishments as par the law, she added. Assistant Commissioner of Police P V Ganesh and the Traffic Inspector of Police P Naresh Reddy were present along with the parents of minor children.
