Hanamkonda: Deputy Chief Minister K Srihari has called upon the public to join hands with the State government for the revival of government schools in Telangana.

He said the government is starting 510 Gurukuls and improving infrastructure at State-run schools to offer quality education on par with private institutions to students in rural and urban areas. He attended ‘Badi Bata’ programme at Shayampet government school in city on Thursday.

As part of the programme, he felicitated students, who secured seats in IIITs. He expressed pleasure over the fact that of them, about 296 students studied in government schools and said it indicates the quality of education offered at government schools.

“Previous governments have neglected government schools. The TRS government has accorded priority to strengthen the State-run schools by introducing digital class rooms and English medium teaching with qualified teachers,” he added.

Hence the public should also extend their cooperation to the government’s efforts and join their children in government schools. The process of filling up vacant posts was going on phased manner and teachers would be given training in modern teaching techniques, he said.

Rs 22 crores were sanctioned towards improving infrastructure at schools in Warangal Urban district, Srihari said adding ‘Efforts are on to make the district an educational hub and a model district’. Additional classrooms would be built with Rs 50 lakh at Shayampet school, besides providing 12 computers.

Warangal (West) MLA D Vinay Bhasker informed that Rs 7.35 crores have been sanctioned towards infrastructure development in 65 schools in the constituency. There has been good response to Badi Bata wherein large number of students, who were studying in private schools joining government schools, he noted.
