Karimnagar: It was very sad that the Opposition parties had forgotten about the days of emergency imposed by the Congress government during its tenure, said BJP State General Secretary Gujjula Premendar Reddy. The party leaders along with the activists observed ‘Anti-Emergency Day’ here at Film Bhavan on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, Premendar Reddy said that no political party is bold enough to talk about the Emergency that was imposed 42 years ago in the country in 1975 by Congress government.

The BJP is the only party, which is observing June 26 as the ‘Anti-emergency day’ and is exposing the feudal thinking of the Congress and the atrocity cases it had lodged against the public at that time, he added.

The Party which came to the power made an amendment in Indian Constitution in 1978 not to impose Emergency again in the country at any time.

By imposing Emergency in the country, the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi killed the rights of the people. But many great people of that time fought against Emergency for the betterment of society and faced lot of problems, he informed.

The present generation youth must take inspiration from those great people, who fought against emergency and Congress and must observe June 26 as ‘Anti Emergency Day’ every year and this was necessary also for those, who talk about ‘intolerance’, he pointed out.

The Congress is shrinking from the political map of the country because of the Emergency imposed by it. He observed that family rule will lead a country and State into corruption.

The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, was striving hard for uplifting the downtrodden by introducing various welfare schemes. His welfare scheme with the slogan ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas’ was being applauded by all sections of people across the country, he said.

BJP leaders Korivi Venu Gopal, Enugonda Nageshwar Reddy, Gujju Sathish, Mekala Prabhkar Yadav, Kotte Murali, Gajula Swapna, Sunkapaka Vidhya Sagar, Sai Krishna Reddy, Sujatha Reddy, Bethi Mahendar Reddy, Boinapalli Praveen Rao, Ch Anitha, Brahmandra Chary, Jithendar Reddy and Rajesh were present along with others.
