Jagtial: Joint Collector Dr A Nagendra ordered the officials of departments concerned to take necessary steps for providing rehabilitation to people, who shunned gudumba making and/or selling.

He discussed about rehabilitation to former gudumba manufacturers with the officials of various departments at the conference hall of Rural Development Office here on Wednesday.

The J-C, Dr A Nagendra said that the government will sanction Rs 2 lakh for each family, who left the illegal business of manufacturing and selling of illicit liquor as part of rehabilitation programme for running other kind of business like retail shops, dairies, rearing of sheep or for running auto.

As many as 159 families were identified so far, including 26 ST families, 11 SC families, 119 BC families and one Minority family along with others, informed the Joint Collector.

By forming a committee with MPDOs and Circle Inspectors of excise department, necessary steps would be taken for grounding the units, he ordered.

Metpalli Mushraf Farooqi, Jagtial Rural Development Officer Dr G Narendar, District Excise Superintendent Sridhar, Excise department Circle Inspectors, MPDOs and Tahsildars were present along with others.
