Karimnagar: It is very common for the fraudsters to cheat unemployed youth and the gullible youth to fall prey to such cheaters. Normally their modus operandi will be to offer a job to unemployed youth for a price, give them fake appointment letters and disappear from the scene.

But here in Karimnagar, a gang of fraudsters went a step ahead to lure more innocent youth into their trap. The gang was nabbed by the police, who successfully caught the con man, Satish Raj, who bluffed several youth in the district of providing jobs in Hyderabad Metro Water Works.

A gang of four, led by Prudhvi Nagunooru, was innovating in their cheating the unemployed. They showed selfies which they took with politicians, higher officials and noted persons, indicating their rapport with them. Like Satish Raj, they too promised of providing supervisor jobs in Mission Bhagiratha and in NTPC.

At first they used to frequent a dhaba in Nagunooru. Within a short time, they befriended the dhaba owner and offered him a job for a fee of Rs 3 lakh. They took Rs one lakh from him as advance and gave him a fake appointment letter along with a identification card.

Further, they also credited Rs 22,000 towards salary to the bank account of the dhaba owner after first month, saying that he need not go to the work.

This instantly helped them in gaining the trust of the dhaba owner, who introduced them to 10 others. Their plan worked out as 30 gullible youth got into their trap.

The fraud came to light, when the victims smelled the rat and approached Mission Bhagirath Office in Hyderabad.

The fraudsters were said to be enjoying luxurious life when they were caught by the police. The highlight was that one of the gang members had cheated his own cousin also.

The police taking legal opinion to file PD ACT on those gang members. They became alert with the continuous frauds in the district and called upon the people to bring to their notice if they come across such cheating gangs.

A worker in the dhaba said that he believed the gang as his owner got a salary of Rs 22,000. “I paid Rs one lakh. I was given an offer letter and ID card in no time,” he added. Maruthi, another victim, said he was a regular customer to the dhaba where he was also trapped.

Police Commissioner Kamalasan Reddy, who produced the the gang members before the media in Karimnagar on Friday, urged the people not to fall prey to such notorious gangs. He said no government job would be given without prior notification.
