Warangal: The district Congress leaders have taken the battle against the TRS over the naming of Warangal DCC president N Rajender Reddy in the remand report of TRS corporator Anisetti Murali to the state capital.

With the TPCC leadership standing behind the DCC president, the presidents of several district units have on Monday attended an emergency meeting at Gandhi Bhavan in Hyderabad to discuss the issue and strongly condemned the ruling party’s demeanour.

TPCC protocol chairman H Venugopal, its vice-president T Kumar Rao, general secretaries Syed Azmatullah Hussaini and Laxman Goud, DCC chiefs K Mallesham of Ranga Reddy, K Mrutyumjayam of Karimnagar, Bikshamaiah Goud of Nalgonda, Adilabad DCC working president Balu Jadav, Warangal city Congress president Katla Srinivas Rao and several others have attend the meeting.

The leaders have expressed serious resentment against the TRS’s efforts to politicise the murder of ruling party corporator by naming Rajender Reddy in the case in an illegal manner. Congress leaders have warned the ruling party leadership to change its iniquitous approach towards the opposition leaders.

Speaking to The Hans India, the city Congress president Srinivas Rao informed that the TPCC chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy, its former chief Ponnala Lakmaiah, CLP leader K Jana Reddy and leader of the opposition in the legislative council Md. Shabbir Ali would meet the DGP Anurag Sharma on Tuesday to apprise him about the matter.

“We will not quit until the police withdraw the name of the Congress leader from the remand report. Though the accused in Murali’s murder case surrendered before the police, Rajender Reddy is falsely indicted in the case,” he said.

The TPCC leadership has already complained to the governor ESL Narsimhan on the issue, he added.
