Jayashanker-Bhupalpalli: District Collector A Murali said that the district administration has decided to introduce biometric attendance system in all gram panchayats in the district to ensure better punctuality among the staff.

Addressing the officials at a review meeting with the panchayat secretaries and sarpanches in the Collectorate here on Friday, he sought their cooperation in implementing the biometric attendance system.

He urged all the government staff to follow the system to serve the villagers in an effective manner. Initially, the system would be introduced in 15 select villages and later would be implemented in all the 274 gram panchayats, he added.

Collector Murali said that the government staff must be in their seats and start performing their duties at the office from 10.30 am to 5 pm. It has come to his notice that some employees at mandal headquarters were not being punctual and several employees were suspended following their unauthorised absence, he added.

The misuse of biometric attendance system would not be allowed. The attendance of employees of 30 governmental departments would be verified every month and those regular in delivering their duties would be given awards, the Collector added. District Revenue Officer P Mohan Lal, District Panchayat Officer V Chandramouli and others were present.
