Warangal: It’s been almost 10 months since Warangal Rural district was carved out. The district administration which continues to work from the makeshift edifice located in the Warangal Urban district, is finally to get its own address.

What is surprising is that State government is yet to take call on the location for the construction of an integrated district Collectorate complex that houses all the departments, this despite the availability of land at three different places.

Since the formation of Rural district, there has been a vociferous demand from the people of Parkal, Wardhannapet and Narsampet to consider their towns for the district headquarters. However, the administration has identified land near Mogilicherla, Konyimakula, proposed Textile Park and Azam Jahi Mills.

In this regard, the Collector Prashanth J Patil had already submitted a detailed report to the government. Against this backdrop, some residents of Reddypalem village, near Mogilicherla, under Geesukonda mandal voluntarily came forward to donate about 19 acres for the proposed integrated district Collectorate, if the government finalises the location.

It’s learnt that they are of the hope that their village would witness development if the Collectorate comes up close to them. The government has 30 acres adjacent to the 19 acres thus making it to 44 acres, said to be ideal for the Collectorate complex.

It may be noted here that couple of months ago the government has already invited tenders for construction of integrated district offices complexes, including Collectorates, for all new districts. According to plan, except police and fire service offices all administrative offices should be housed at one place in the districts.

Against this backdrop, the GO 19 issued by the Special Chief Secretary to the Government BR Meena exempting the stamp duty for the registration of 19 acres (Reddypalem) has created confusion. Taking the GO as an implied consent, people in Mogilicherla and adjacent villages appears to have in jubilant mood.

Rural District Collector Prashanth J Patil said: “Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will take a decision and granting permission for land registration doesn’t mean that site near Mogilicherla was finalised.”

Speaking to The Hans India, Parkal MLA Challa Dharma Reddy said: “It’s certain that Rural Collectorate complex will come up near Mogilicherla. A model town will be developed here as per the directions of CM. However, there was a demand to set up Collectoate in Parkal, Wardhannapet and Narsampet, this location is the centre point of Rural district.”
