Demanding the state government to implement schemes for the welfare of farmers’, the Telangana Rythu Sangham organised a massive meeting along with the leaders and activists of Left parties in Khammam on Monday.

Speaking at the meeting, Chada stated nearly 5 lakh farmers have committed suicide in the last two decades. “Farmers are afraid to take up agriculture due to negligent behaviour of the state and central governments,” he said, accusing the government of duping the farmers by not fixing Minimum Support Price for their produce.

With demonetisation and introduction of Goods and Services Tax, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and with fake seeds and land mafia, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao were deceiving people, especially farmers, he criticised.

CPI senior leader Puvvada Nageswara Rao alleged that the communal riots were increasing day-by-day under the Modi rule. Instead of opposing Modi, Chief Ministers of both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh were supporting him, he said.

Stating that the separate Telangana was achieved for the people of the state not for the Chief Minister’s family, Puvvada said the Left parties along with several peoples’ organisations were ready to teach both Modi and KCR a fitting lesson in coming up days.

CPI Joint Secretary Kunamneni Samba Shiva Rao accusing the Chief Minister and his family members of looting the public money in the name of projects and schemes.

After the meeting, the Left party leaders along with the representatives of peoples’ organisations and leaders of Rythu Sangham took out a rally from Pavilion Grounds to Collectorate and tried to lay siege to the collectorate. The police intervened and arrested the agitating leaders.
