Nizamabad: At least 62 government schools in the district will be closed soon if the government initiates the process of shutting down the schools with less student strength.

There are 776 primary schools in the erstwhile Nizamabad district. Eight of them were already closed and another 39 schools are in the line. 60 teachers of these schools will be deputed to other schools.

In Kamareddy district, out of the total 830, about 23 primary schools will be closed and would be merged with the nearby ones.

The entire process will be handled by the district educational officers. It is learnt that the orders for teachers’ deputation would be announced in a couple of days.

The primary schools with less than 10 students, upper primary schools with less than 20 and high schools with less than 50 students would have to face the impact. As many as 90 upper primary schools in Nizamabad have less than 20 students.

There will be no effect on the upper primary schools as none of them have less than 20 students. Upper primary schools in both the districts have the required strength. Peddammakadi Thanda primary school in Bheemgal mandal has only five students.

The students of this school have to go to Sikindrapur primary school for lunch. Primary schools at Hanuman Thanda in Mopalmandal, Vachai Thanda in Bheemgal Mandal, Salur Camp in Bodhanmandal, Indira Nagar in Nandipetmandal and Devunigutta Thanda in Kotagiri mandal have already been closed as the strength in these schools is nil.
