I will request Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to allocate another Rs 200 crores in addition to the Rs 100 crore budgetary allocations for city development,” said Lok Sabha Member Kalvakuntla Kavitha.

Nizamabad: “I will request Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to allocate another Rs 200 crores in addition to the Rs 100 crore budgetary allocations for city development,” said Lok Sabha Member Kalvakuntla Kavitha.

Of the allotted Rs 100 crore, Rs 30 crore would be earmarked to develop the roads in the city. Participating as the chief guest at a programme of the new executive committee of Nizamabad Chamber of Commerce, held here on Wednesday, Kavitha said that the CM took a decision to extend industrial development, which is now limited to Hyderabad city alone, to other districts also.

Credit for improving power situation in the State through proper planning goes to the Chief Minister, she said, pointing out how dharnas used to be held at Indira Park in the past against power cuts.

Speaking about the accelerated implementation of Mission Bhagiratha, she said the credit of reserving 10 per cent of total quantum of water to meet industrial needs goes to KCR.

On infrastructure amenities in the district for industrial growth, Kavitha said the road connectivity in the district from villages to the city and from Nizamabad to Hyderabad and other states is excellent. Roads in the district have been developed at a cost of Rs 1,200 crore. Besides modernising markets, sub-markets were being developed, she added.

Construction of an IT tower here on the lines of the one in progress in Khammam district would get jobs to the unemployed youth, the MP said adding that she took up the matter with IT Minister K T Rama Rao, who assured to look into the matter.

Further, she said KTR responded favorably on the issue.

Patanjali CEO Balakrishna came forward to set up their unit in 200 acres with an investment of Rs 100 crore and they are searching for a suitable place, she said. Kavitha laid emphasis on more turmeric-based industries to come up in the district as turmeric cultivation is very high in the district.

Stating that support is being garnered for the proposed turmeric board, she said, “I even called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the issue. The State government has procured 42 acres for the proposed spices board.” As setting up of an airport in Nizamabad rural mandal is not viable, she urged the minister concerned to explore the possibility of setting up a dry port in the district in the proposed 800 acres procured for the airport.

MP Kavitha said Rs 25 lakh has been earmarked out of the MPLADS for the chamber of commerce building. Since the underground drainage works are in progress in the city, she appealed to the people to bear with the inconvenience.

MLCs VG Grour, Rajeshwar Rao, Nizamabad Urban MLA Bigala Ganesh Gupta, city Mayor Akula Sujata, chamber of commerce new executive committee president Sundar Agarwal and others took part in the programme.
