Hyderabad: Dr Reddy’s Foundation under Social Corporate Responsibility is launching a nation-wide campaign titled ‘Breaking Barriers at Workplace’ on December 2. The aim behind the campaign is to draw attention towards the rights of people with disability and to mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

According to a report of Telangana Disability Study, about 12.2 per cent of the States and 3.52 crore population in India struggle with disability. Rural areas have more disabled people than urban areas, as per the report.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy will flag off the campaign and nearly 150 bikers will ride across the city. The campaign will travel 12 States over 12 months and touch the cities for Persons with Disabilities. Workshop will be held to sensitise and encourage them to endorse an inclusive workforce. The campaign will conclude on International Day for Persons with Disability 2018.

Chairman of Dr Reddy’s Foundation Satish Reddy said, “In this day and age, specially-abled people are proving to be a better talent and setting new standards in all aspects of life. Dr Reddy’s Foundation believes that there should be no barrier to sharing talent due to a disability. This campaign will aim to strengthen an inclusive and a barrier-free work environment for the specially-abled people in our society.
