Two plays, ‘Dippam’ and ‘Bhavita’ staged over the weekend at Amphitheatre, Apollo Hospitals, Jubilee Hills as part of the ‘Manch Mahotsavam’. The month-long ‘Manch Mahotsavam’ started on March 4 to give a treat to theatre lovers in the city on the occasion of World Theatre Day on March 27.

The evening started with the play ‘Dippam’, a Telugu comedy play written and directed by Harsha Chakilam which focuses on normal human life. The story revolves around Brahmam, a middle-class man who loves his wife very much, on the other hand, his wife Saroja blames Brahmam for their financial status and always fights with him. Later Brahmam lends money from a money lender for high interest that becomes a burden to his life.

Adding to his difficulties, Usha, who loves him, forces him to marry and blackmails him that she will end her life. The play explores how Brahmam tries to solve his problems. It delivers a good message on human values. Artists including Sai Krishna Dheram, Srinivas Vallaala, Soumya Eshwarla, Mahendra Pasam and Srikanth Sathyam did their best.

The second play ‘Bhavita’ written and directed by Srikanth Banala was staged. The play explores the importance of a woman in everybody’s life. This is the story of a mother who tries to save her child from her drunkard husband in a village where more respect is given to customs than respect for people. Both the plays are received very well by the audience.

Harsha Chakilam, director of the play ‘Dippam’ said “My play was very well received by the audience because of the great effort by my teammates. With this inspiration, we plan to stage more entertaining plays for people soon,”

Rupa, the lead actor of Dippam, said “I’m feeling very glad to be a part of Manch Mahotsavam. It is a great initiative taken by Manch Theatre. I feel it was a great chance to meet prominent people in the theatre. It's like a dream come true for me. All the plays we chose are very entertaining and thought-provoking with a social element and a touch of humor and entertainment,”

Plays include ‘Oo Prema Oo Donga’ and ‘Spoorthi’ will be staged on March 24 at Amphitheatre, Apollo Hospitals, Jubilee Hills from 6:30 pm onwards.
