‘Do you adjust if your housekeeper is absent for a day? You don’t, right? Then how can you adjust if a corrupted politician rules your constituency, state or country for five years?’ these are the words you will hear when you watch the play ‘Paisal Evi Bhe’. Written and directed by Srikanth Banala, the play was staged recently by Popudabba Theatre Group at Lamakaan. It explores corrupted politics in a comic way.

It is a satirical story revolving around an MLA, his PA, a corporater and a TV reporter. In the play, the MLA who fears defeat in the upcoming elections tries to get sympathy of the people and admits himself at a hospital without any health issues. His assistants (corporator and PA) give him the idea of how to get sympathy of the people. All goes well for the trio until they get a call from a fraudulent bank.

The bank officials tell them that their money will become double if they deposit in their bank. Lured for the big money, the MLA, and Corporator deposit some money in the bank. Knowing their passwords and account details, the fraud agency loots the entire amount in both the accounts.

The play touched various issues of society and how people are bamboozled by politicians. It elaborates people’s negligence on voting and how they choose candidates by taking money and its consequences post elections. It is also a satire on corrupt politicians, who deceive people with false promises.

The play explores how people don’t show any interest or spend the time to inquire about their candidates in elections. The play will make you laugh till the end and enlightens you about what is happening around you in the name of elections. In the end, it urges the importance of voting in elections and explains what happens if one doesn't vote.

Srikanth Banala is a known person in theatre field and often stage plays which talk about issues of society. After the tragic accident of a 10-year-old-girl Ramya at Panjagutta, Srikanth did a play ‘Nuvvu Chavali’ to explore the dangers of drunk and driving.

Srikanth said, “I have encountered several corrupted people and their quality less works since my childhood. People have not shown interest to select a right candidate in elections. The elected MLA’s and MP’s are also not undertaking any development activities. I hope, people will change after watching the play,”
