Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) hospitals launched its Adult Immunisation Centre (AIC) recently to provide the best vaccines for preventing infection to maximum number of adults and improve quality of life.

Commenting on the initiative, senior physician and head of dept (HoD) general medicine in KIMS Dr Shivaraju said, “With an increasing need in awareness on adult vaccinations, our AIC not only bridges the gap, but is undoubtedly the best way for adults to stay away from infectious disease.

After observing several important factors contributing to the current lifestyle that we lead, we have conceptualised a highly cost effective method with the main aim to reduce vaccination preventable adult infections, thereby leading to a decrease in mortality and morbidity.”

Urbanisation, increased pollution levels, low immunity, greater drug resistant infections, scarcity of antibiotics in future, rising costs of medical treatments, increase in elderly population and multiple medical problems are increasing in people have all led to an urgent need for adult vaccination.

Infections like typhoid, hepatitis, influenza and pneumonia are on the rise and diseases like diabetes, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, liver diseases, kidney diseases can be curtailed at early stages with proper consultations and health checkups at such centres.
