The Nehru Zoological Park (NZP) was abuzz with activity as students from Tinies Preschool took part in the International Tiger Day programmes on Friday. The authorities showed a film on tiger conservation at the bioscope hall.

Shivani Dogra, curator, Nehru Zoological Park while speaking to the children said that saving the environment and forests is as important as saving the tiger as the animal can survive only if there are forests.

According to the 2014 census, the tiger population has increased in India and is now home to the largest number of tigers in the world. The NZP has 12 Royal Bengal tigers and 10 white tigers and is one of the few zoos in the country to have such a huge tiger population.
