The 2nd edition of Indian Photography Festival (IPF) - Hyderabad, is about to begin on 29 September at the State Art Gallery, Madhapur.

The 2nd edition of Indian Photography Festival (IPF) - Hyderabad, is about to begin on 29 September at the State Art Gallery, Madhapur. The Not-For-Profit initiative by Light Craft Foundation in association with Telangana Tourism is an international photography festival, showcasing a wide range of photography across all genres from portraits and landscape through photojournalism to fine-art by emerging and legendary photographers from India and around the globe. The festival will have featured exhibitions, artists’ talks, panel discussions, portfolio reviews, photography workshops, open studios & book launches.

Founder and Director of the festival Aquin Mathews says “Photography has been democratised with the advent of digital technology and mobile phone cameras; and more people have access to photography and enjoy it these days. We have made the event free to the public as photography has got a wider reach.”

This year, the festival is curated by the leading Indian Photographer Amit Mehra; and among the highlights is the launch of the book, ‘Unsung’ by photographer and publisher, Mahesh Bhat and photographer Kaushal Parikh’s book "Fragments of a spinning rock". The exhibits of more than 300 photographers from 36 countries will be showcased.

This edition features some of the world renowned photographers from India and around the world. The legendary Indian photographer Raghu Rai and the world famous photojournalist Ron Haviv who is also the Co-founder of VII Photo which is a leading photo agency will be at the festival. Also the festival will have Michael Robinson Chavez - Washington Post, Prashant Panjiar - Photojournalist, Claire Rosen - Fine Art Photographer, Nick Moir - Sydney Morning Herald, Mahesh and Swapan Parekh, who will be speaking at the festival.

The festival will have 41 print exhibitions and 20 digital exhibitions all across Hyderabad. The exhibitions will also be happening at Alliance Francaise, Goethe Zentrum, Lamakaan, Forum Sujana Mall, Kalakriti Art Gallery and various public spaces in Hyderabad. A collateral exhibition by Icon Art Gallery which features 28 photographers from Hyderabad will be on view at Sardar Mahal, Lad Bazaar and Chowmahalla Palace.
