I did it as a part of the awareness for Beti Bachavo and Beti Padavo initiative. It is about the importance of education for a baby girl. If a girl baby is educated then she educates her family.

I have chosen Goddess Saraswati Devi symbol ‘Lotus’ to depict it. I used printing cloths and fiber to portray it. In this work, I used all materials, which belong to women,”

“I always love to use pigment solids in my works. I completed this works, which is displayed in the exhibition, in one month.

I was interested in arts and I used to draw paintings during summer holidays in my schooling days. I did various solo shows before this. I’m planning to do my next show on women as well,” she adds.

Another artist, Sweta Chandra, who has studied Master of Fine Arts (MFA) at Kala Bhavan, Shantiniketan, West Bengal, says “My work is ‘Fleeting Sparks’.

We read newspapers every day and we talk and share it with our friends. We are also spreading news. Whenever we share news with our friends, they in turn share as well if it is interesting and informative.

Using the idea, I did this wing structure using bamboo, newspaper, sound and steel mechanism. Each feather of the wing in a series reflects an idea to provoke the mundane life.”
