It’s been almost 15 years since the restaurant ‘Spicy Venue’ has been serving on its menu authentic Telugu cuisine. On the occasion of Ugadi, the Managing Director, Sampath Srinivas Thummala hosted ‘Telugotsavam’ – a showcase of tradition and celebration marking the Telugu new year, on Sunday.

The garlands of marigold flowers all over the restaurant that already has various ethnic elements in the décor, accentuated the festive spirit. There was a parrot reader forecasting the future, and the restaurant staff, guests and members of ‘Hyderabad Foodies Club’ looked the part in resplendently traditional attire. What are festivities without food? The amazing spread had the ‘Who’s Who’ of Telugu cuisine.

There was Ugadi pachadi, Mango pulihara, peetala iguru, Nellore chapa pulusu, mango mutton, gummadikaya iguru, nimmakaya pappucharu, majjiga pulusu, ulavacharu, bellam avakaya and many more on the buffet.

The young Telugu music band, ‘Capricio’ in their ‘Premam’ styled attire belted out amazing Telugu melodies, and kept the guests swaying in delight. In short, it was a celebration of being a Telugu.

Sampath Srinivas Thummala shared, “We have been serving Telugu cuisine since years and we have huge respect for our traditions and culture. An event of this kind was a long standing vision and we are happy that it finally happened.

This is a basic attempt to bring some festivities alive. We hope our customers enjoy our offering and we look forward to making it bigger and better the next year.” Photos: Ravi Giragani
