With an objective to provide homemade food for the office-goers in Hyderabad, techies Chaitanya and Mukesh started an app ‘TinMen’. Launched in April 2015, TinMen delivers food cooked by home chefs directly to the customers’ offices at lunch and dinner.

“Mukesh and I worked in corporate offices and we faced problems regarding food. Later, we came to know about the ‘Dabbawala’ services in Mumbai, where they deliver the homemade food to offices of customers.

We wanted to do something similar like that and we started providing homemade food to office-goers and for that, we hired chefs in the city who can work from their homes as per our instructions. After cooking, we pack the food in eco-friendly paper bags and deliver it to the customers,” Chaitanya, Co-founder, TinMen, said.

Sharing about the process of chef’s selection, Chaitanya informed, “Chefs, who want to work with us, must register at our website ‘Become a TinMen Chef’. After their registration, we scrutinize a lot and in the process, only one in 10 gets selected. We have cut-off based on hygiene, quality, quantity and location.

We have chefs who specialise in cuisines like Andhra, Telangana, Hyderabadi, Punjabi, Rajasthani, Jain, Continental, etc. All chefs have a set of standards that they have to follow while we help them with pricing, packaging and marketing their product.”

“Anyone can order from the app after the sign-up process. At present, we provide food delivery in areas like Gachibowli, Jubilee Hills for offices and homes. Areas like Begumpet, Punjagutta and Banjara Hills, we deliver only lunches to homes,” he adds.

The TinMen menu has more than 100 varieties and you can select your favourite chef. “We are providing a marketplace for home chefs. Home cooked food is sourced from our chefs and we don’t own a kitchen. We control delivery of food.

At present we are receiving 1,000 orders per day. We got a good response from our customers. We are also planning to do some specialised meals and snacks in future,” he concluded.
