Arpit Chourey and his band launched their EP ‘Simple Stories’ at the Heart Cup Cafe, Kondapur with songs that include ‘Paper Boat’, ‘Simple Stories’, ‘Love has told me and ‘Morning and I’ll be’. These songs have recently been released on oklisten.com, a professional digital platform for music.

After being Hyderabad's first solo Indie artist to appear on the Bacardi NH7 Weekender stage, Arpit being the lead singer has Rajiv on the Lead Guitar, Suresh on Bass Guitar and Chuba on Drums. Arpit Chourey is also the songwriter for the band and writes songs in English and Hindi language. Arpit’s music has an influence of John Mayer, Jack Johnson, Gregory Alan Isakov, Damien Rice and the Lumineers.
“I met Rajiv at one of the World Music Day gigs in Hyderabad and then similarly I met Suresh, who knew Chuba through other music projects. I used to work in an MNC before I decided to follow my passion.” For Rajiv, music performance has been in his life since 2003. Suresh hails from Odisha and has performed in Kolkata before settling down in Hyderabad.
Chuba is from Nagaland and has been playing in Hyderabad since 2011. And he is also the ‘unofficial foodie’ of the band, providing the much-needed fuel off stage with his abilities of cooking. “We regularly practice music and perform gigs all over India. Nowadays, we find Hyderabad evolving with many new places emerging for performances.
Very good spaces are being developed where people can enjoy good music along with a good ambience and food. We always play our original songs and the response has been phenomenal. Hyderabad has started opening up to many art forms like theatre, standup comedy among others. Television and film industry tries to provide more ‘dreamy things’. People are educated and look for more realistic things.
As far as the infrastructure is concerned, Hyderabad is lagging behind in terms of recording studio facilities and we had to record our songs in Mumbai,” Arpit shares. “The song lyrics are generally very appealing to different sections of the people and could emotionally touch different cords of different people. You only live once,” signs off Rajiv.
