Raveena Singh from New Delhi presented a vibrant Kathak recital recently at Lamakaan , Banjara Hills. Raveena portrayed Madhurashtakam in praise of Lord Krishna who used to steal butter and vanish.

The piece showed how Krishna playfully put an end to the sufferings being put on the villagers by the mighty ‘Kalia’ serpent and how he heard the prayers of Draupadi when she was being insulted in the royal court of Kauravas.

It was followed by a presentation which showed the power of the Nataraja, Lord Shiva and his cosmic power who destroyed the evil with the presentation through Shiva tandava stotram.

The ultimate goal of inner realisation is through the spiritual Sufi and the presentation which brings to light the preaching’s of Hazrat Amir Khusro. Finally came a ‘Tarana’ which brought out fast rhythmic patterns which showed her command over Laya .

Raveena has been training for over 19 years with Guru Sri Ram Kumar. Raveena completed her Bachelor’s degree in Kathak dance from Prayag Sangit Samiti. She has experience in also many other dance forms like Bollywood, Contemporary, Chau, Belly dance and hip hop.

Raveena Singh has also played an important role in the musical Mughal-e-Azam as a Kathak artist which has been showcased at National Centre for Performing Arts, Mumbai.
