Gearing up for jubilee fete
The diamond jubilee celebrations of the ‘Aka Khan Development Network’ will begin in the city from July 11. The announcement came from Suleman Hirani on Friday through a statement that said, “The day comme-morates 60 years since the Aga Khan became Imam of the Shia Imami Ismaili Muslims. His Highness has guided the society towards addressing key challenges relating to human development.

Throughout this time, His Highness’ guidance and efforts have enabled the Shia Ismaili Muslim Community to establish institutions and to work collaboratively with others, to assure the security, welfare and progress of its members and those of other communities they live amongst.”
“The Diamond Jubilee is an occasion the community has selected to publicly express its appreciation and gratitude to the Imam,” he said. “Commemorative events have been planned for Ismailis globally.
In many countries, Ismailis will gather for day-long events to mark the beginning of the Diamond Jubilee year. Hundreds of volunteers will be involved in organising events and programmes throughout the Jubilee, in keeping with the service ethic of our faith.
