On the Last sunday of AshadaMasamBonalu, festivities were celebrated on a grand note across the twin cities. All the temples have been colourfully decorated with flowers, Neem and Mango leaves thoranams with colorful lighting.

On the Last sunday of AshadaMasamBonalu, festivities were celebrated on a grand note across the twin cities. All the temples have been colourfully decorated with flowers, Neem and Mango leaves thoranams with colorful lighting. Each household family members walked in groups to temples neartheir localities with women carrying bonam-rice and children of the family carrying the water offering called Saaka to the goddess.

Bonam is an offering to the Mother Goddess. Women folk in household prepare rice that is cooked along with Milk, Jaggery in a New Earthen or Brass Pot, which is adorned with Neem Leaves, Turmeric and Vermilion. Women carry these pots on their heads and make an offering of Bonam, including Bangles and Saree to the Mother Goddess at Temples, it’s a common sight to see children follow their mothers carrying water offering to goddess.
