Speaking with The Hans India, Sarah shares her tryst with photography.
“I was born and brought up in the UK. My grandfather lived in Hyderabad for many years. I love travelling all over the world and capturing the beauty with the camera. I came to Hyderabad in 2015 and I pictured various trades of Hyderabad.
The people of the city are very friendly and supported for my cause. I covered areas like Secunderabad, Old City, Nampally, Uppal among others. I loved the Charminar area, especially, as it gives great shopping experience,” Sarah said.
Speaking about her photography exhibition, Sarah shared, “The exhibition is a series of varied daily trades in Hyderabad. These everyday lives are cracked, a little bit flawed; flawed indeed through our own reflections. The reflections embedded into these cracks are projections of one’s own lives, of one’s time and space that is either intersecting with lives elsewhere, or surfacing a disconnect in our perception of the lives of others.”
Sharing the reason why she captured the various trades of Hyderabad, Sarah said, “Hyderabad is a mosaic of a transforming city. It is deep-rooted history forms a foundation for the cultural atmosphere - the religious and communal coexistence is propelled by trade and commerce.
One might see the diverse trades that exist as the reference points to the coordinates of a city that is being engulfed by its urbanity, and further as the texture and aesthetic of a city being layered by its ever-expanding modern infrastructure and capitalist ventures.”
Sarah also informed that she is working towards making a documentary film on Hyderabad.
