Encouraging entrepreneurship among students

“In a country with youth comprising over 50 per cent of total population, the less percentage of employable graduates, pose a threat to the country’s growth, said Vice Chancellor of Osmania University Professor S Ramachandram.

Addressing the students on the Graduation Day at Azmath Auditorium, Shadan Institute of Management Studies (SIMS), Prof. Ramachandram said, “Graduates who look for a decent job need to have requisite knowledge and skills. Attitude is the mother of all traits, and positive attitude can help students easily secure jobs.”

He advised the teachers to engage students in asking questions, and applying their knowledge in practise during the sojourn of their study. Such initiatives, the VC noted, can help increase the connect of academics with industry. He said that students must not only be job seekers but become job creators, and job givers.

This would be possible if incubation centres were set up at colleges where students can be nurtured to become entrepreneurs, he observed. The VC congratulated the passing out students, and the management for conducting the first graduation day in 23 years. He advised them to strive for excellence in careers and achieve success by applying acquired education in the industry.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Kumar Molugaram, Controller of Examinations, OU appreciated Shadan Group of Institutions terming the group of institutions as a 'mini university’. He advised the students to aim for higher positions, engage in continuous skill advancement and acquiring knowledge of contemporary industry, to sustain and excel in professional life.

Prof. Nageshwar Rao, Dean, Faculty of Management, Osmania University, said “Not just degrees but leadership and sense of social responsibility will help one achieve success in life.” Dr Zehra Shah Alam Rasool Khan, Jt. Secretary – SES, said “The college was established with an aim to empower women, and the society by providing them education.”

She recollected the efforts of late founder Dr Vizarath Rasool Khan, who with nearly 58 institutions under the society, has produced thousands of engineers, doctors, management graduates, and many other verticals”. She announced that Shadan will be offering engineering seats for free to deserving girl students, starting with the next academic year.

Speaking on the occasion, Chairman Shadan Education Society Shah Alam Rasool Khan said, “The prime objective of establishing the society for leveraging moral education and said “separate colleges for girls were established to boost women empowerment, a successful initiative pledged by the society nearly 25 years ago.”
