Oakridge International School organised the annual Sports Day today for students of Grade 4-12 at the Gachibowli Stadium on Tuesday.

Oakridgers competed neck-to-neck in the 100 mts, 200 mts and 4x100 mts relay races. Students also showcased their skills in aerobics, yoga, and taekwondo.

Oakridge Alumni, Anindith Reddy Konda, a four-time Indian National Racing Champion was present at the event.

Speaking on the occasion, Anindith said, “While I was a student at Oakridge, I loved playing sport. I was in school teams and I’m glad to see how the school is encouraging sports among students. Sports helped me become the individual I am today - confident, a team player and someone who has many friends from the teams I have been a part of.”

“Oakridge believes that sports, is an important part of school life and children who take part in sports receive many social, mental and psychological benefits. In other words, academic learning and sports education are known to be the two sides of the coin which help built the overall personality of the student,” said Arjun Rao, Principal.

“Sports Day is one of the most important activities in the school calendar. It is our largest internal sports competition, and is eagerly looked forward to, by so many students, teachers and families. It is also our opportunity to recognise and support students who are participating in sports activities at the highest level both nationally and internationally,” he said.
