Cherlapally: The residents of Cherlapally, who are dependent on public transport, have been facing severe problems for the last six years due to lack of proper bus sheds. About 85 per cent of the total population in Cherlapally is reliant on the 30 to 40 buses which ply in the area, but the lack of bus sheds is a growing cause of concern.

Mohan, a daily wage worker and a local resident said, “There is no proper bus shed for commuters to wait for buses to arrive. The bus station is chaotic place with buses moving hazardously in the station, it becomes dangerous to walk in the premises with our children.” Another resident Sakina, a B Com second year student said, “Last week I reached for my exam late because I missed my bus, while trying to cross the road. If there was a bus station, it would have not happened.”

G Raju, an auto driver and a local resident of Cherlapally told The Hans India, “Just because the bus station is located in the interior of the area, the bus drivers take things casually. They go for their lunch at their desired time and come back at their desired time. When we try to question them for same, they ask us to mind our own business.”

Y Pavan, an MNC employee said, “These bus drivers sometimes come closer to us, when we are waiting for bus and crack ugly jokes with their friends which is very unpleasant. And the wine shop is so close to the bus stop, due which the drivers occasionally consume alcohol in the bus.”

Officials of the Transport Department said that no complaints were received from the residents regarding this issue. An official said, “We have not received any complaints from the residents till now. However, I shall bring it to the notice of my seniors and try finding a concrete solution to the problem.”
