Cell phone towers scare residents
It is a known fact that radio frequency radiation from cell towers has implicated in various human illnesses. With an ever-expanding city, the cell phone towers are mushrooming in the city by the day. Earlier there were only one or two towers in a residential area. However, the erection of these towers in areas like Ayyappa Society, Kavuri Hills, Raidurgam, Kondapur, Chandanagar, Miyapur and Serli
Madhapur: It is a known fact that radio frequency radiation from cell towers has implicated in various human illnesses. With an ever-expanding city, the cell phone towers are mushrooming in the city by the day. Earlier there were only one or two towers in a residential area. However, the erection of these towers in areas like Ayyappa Society, Kavuri Hills, Raidurgam, Kondapur, Chandanagar, Miyapur and Serlingampally have increased by the fold in the recent past.

S Arun of Kavuri Hills has leased out his terrace to mobile companies, said, “In 2015, I have rented my terrace to one of the leading cellular companies to erect towers and have signed an agreement of three years at that time. However, I was unaware of the side-effects of the radiation, but now I would make sure that it does not affect the residents.”
G Ranveer of Ayyappa Society said, “My owner has leased out his terrace to the cell phone company to erect a tower and he stays in the USA, we have informed him we are not keeping well and the radiation has affected my mother’s brain and as a result she is suffering from memory loss.”
“I requested the owner to remove the tower and he said that he cannot as the agreement has not completed and if he removes it in between he has to pay them an amount for that. And he asked me to vacate the house if I have an issue,” he added Another resident G Srinivas said, “Because of the radiation I am facing skin problems. My body becomes red and is getting tanned. At times it gets swollen and skin becomes itchy.”
Dr Srikanth MS stated that the radiations from the towers affect the brain and memory loss in the senior citizens, effects concentration, sleep disturbances, growth and development in children’s, the most common early side-effects are weakness and skin problems. “People might get other ailments such as hair loss and nausea,” he informed.
