Stone quarry blasts giving sleepless nights to Girijans
Residents of the Girijan thanda adjacent to the stone quarry on the outskirts of Atmakur village in Peddamul mandal are living in scare because of the blastings taken up by the quarry management to break huge rocks from evening to midnight. They are spending sleepless nights.

The quarry is using compressor for drilling huge holes in the rocks before resorting to blasts using explosive material. The thanda residents told The Hans India, “They are virtually living in fear unable to comprehend what would happen any time during nights. We are not able to have a peaceful sleep,” they grumble.
“Even our houses are developing cracks. None is bothered when we inform officials of the impending threat.” Farmers are complaining of the damage being caused by the stones hitting fields after the blasts. Because of the explosions the water levels have fallen, they alleged.
