Nampally: Preparations for All India Industrial Exhibition 2018 are on full swing here as the date for the launch is fast approaching. The one and half a month exhibition is one of the major attractions of Hyderabad in which people from across the country participate.
As part of the preparations, the Exhibition Society began installing stalls across the ground that would be completed in a couple of days.
Informing about the same, Exhibition Society Secretary Narotham Reddy said that all the stalls have been sold and traders are busy installing it.
He said that almost 2,500 stalls will be installed across the Exhibition Ground this time and business will be as usual. He said that the installation would be over by Christmas and the Exhibition will be ready by December 30. He declined that GST or any other factor will affect the sale and shine of the national event.
Concurring with the view, vendors, too are expecting good business. However, a few are worried about GST. A seasonal vendor near Exhibition Grounds, Raju said that he sells toys, decorative items and other ornaments during the Exhibition every year.
“This time people will not spend much on purchasing items at the Exhibition, since it would have the impact of GST and they prefer things at relatively cheaper rates at the annual event,” he opined. He said that the impact of the demonetisation was evident on the previous year’s exhibition and this time, too it could be troublesome.
Meanwhile, the Traffic Police, GHMC and other departments are working in coordination to streamline traffic and cleanliness during the month-long fete. Free two-wheeler parking has been arranged by the traffic police in lanes adjacent to the Exhibition Ground besides on the main road.
This arrangement however, upsets slum dwellers near the Exhibition Ground. A wooden craftsman from the slum, Chinna, said that they face a lot of difficulties during the entire exhibition period. He, however said that some people in the basthi use this opportunity to sell their crafts on the road side.
