Hyderabad: The nomadic Gangireddula community members on Wednesday staged dharna in front of the Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad office on the Tank Bund demanding the authorities to exempt the community members from the purview of The Beggars’ Act.

In the light of the recent visit of Ivanka Trump to the city, the GHMC officials and the Police took steps to send the Gangireddu community members, who quit villages and reached the city to earn good bucks, to jail.

They also staged protest at the RTC Cross Roads parading their decorated bulls.
Expressing concern over the treatment meted out to them on a par with beggars, they claimed that they should not be treated like beggars and clarified that they earn livelihood parading the decorated bulls.

They sought to know from the authorities how can they sustain their livelihood if the members of their tribe are put behind the bars.

Only the time will tell whether the government shows them with an alternative source of livelihood? Or does it come to the rescue of the Gangireddu community persons?
